U5-U8’s Intramural Program

New: Sachem Soccer – Coach Training Sessions (SEE COACHES CORNER)

Our goal as Intramural Coaches is to work together to make Sachem Players the best they can be to start competing against other clubs when they are ready.

SYSL is counting on our Intramural Coaches collaborating to improve all our player’s skills more to make this happen, winning games in house is secondary, partner up to help each other out and prepare our players to compete with other clubs.

Team Practices : SYSL will be providing all U5-U8 Players weekly training sessions with their coaches.

Intramural Coaches are asked to NOT to practice during Intramural Development Program sessions for their age groups to allow players opportunity to seek additional professional training.

Our intramural coaches are volunteer  based.  We appreciate and  thank you for volunteering your time to help our kids learn the game of soccer and most importantly, have fun!

Intramural Games: Intramural players will have 9 games per season (fall and spring).  The majority of these games will be on Sundays, however based upon field availability there may be some Saturday games as well.

This method helps keep the play moving, allows the coaches to provide the tempo and allow players to get involved who normally may not have the opportunity to get the ball in other settings. Substitutions will be made on all game stoppages. Teams will play 3v3 game format. Game will consist of a size 3 soccer ball, no goalkeepers, no offsides. There will be no referee for game as the coaches are expected to maintain game tempo and manage from within the field of play.

U6 – 4v4

The game format will be played on a 20W X 30L yard field with goals. Methods of starting and/or restarting playing play will be kick offs, free kicks, throw ins, goal kicks and corner kicks. Referees are NOT provided to officiate each game so all coaches ARE EXPECTED to manage the game environment from the sidelines by using best judgement and the standards of play provided.
